I'm at work, and so bored. This has been, quite possibly the slowest news day ever. Nothing is going on. I haven't done any work for over an hour. Which sometimes is much fun, but today I need something to keep me occupied. We did run out and grab some cheesecake, so that was yummy and gave me a sugar high, but I'm crashing now.
Random music rec - I've been really enjoying the new Thrills album, Let's Bottle Bohemia. It's very happy and sparkly. It reminds me of summer, and since we've had such crappy weather lately anything that reminds me of summer is good.
I've also been listening to Trespassers William a lot. They are my before bed album. It's so good, just sad and heartbreaking and utterly sad bastard. I can't thank Mnemo enough for telling me about them.
Also, The Faint album Wet From Birth is awesome. I'm an idiot for not listening to Mnemo and One earlier when they rec'ed them to me. It's some great goth punk electro fun.
One of the guys at work just lent me Anchorman! I love that movie. I'm not sure if it's because I'm in the tv biz, but it's just so funny. I can't wait to watch it again.
I've decided to do that photo meme over at the LJ. So if you haven't already, go and tell me what you want to see a picture of.
Only a half hour left at work. I am so leaving early. Screw this staying til the end of my shift crap. I'm working nine days straight, so I figure that I can take off early tonight right? Right.
I was going to be all down that I screwed up my New Year's resolution in one week, and then I realized that this is my first post of the year. So as long as I update by next Tuesday, I will not have broken it! Naha! Brilliance.
I went shopping last week to take advantage of many boxing day sales, and spent a ton of money all on my favourite person, me. Then I watched the news, and all the tsunami stuff made me cry, and feel horribly guilty for spending a ton of money on myself while hundreds of thousands died. So I donated some money to the Red Cross, and I felt very good for it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a quick pick me up.
So yeah, back to being shallow, on the best shopping trip ever, I got a few sweaters at H&M, another at Banana Republic (which I wore today and got many compliments on), and the most beautiful skirt in the entire world from French Connection to wear to work's Winter Gala. Which would be a Christmas Party if we'd had it before Christmas. I'm looking forward to that, because I have a killer outfit, and plan on looking killer in it.
My New Year's was fabulous, it was much better than I thought it would be. I went with my roommates to a local bar, and we just danced the night away. And drank a hell of a lot, but mostly danced. They were playing great music, a fun mix of current alternative stuff and super enjoyable not overplayed retro. I was in heaven.
Sadly I was talked into going to another bar on Monday night, and it was not so much fun. As in no fun at all. I really hate R&B music. With the exception of Usher. And a few others, but for the most part I think it is all crap. I can't dance all night to that junk. There also were far too many annoying, drunk 19 year old girls there. Some of them may have been younger. Either way, it was just wrong and will not be repeated for some time.
Can someone please stop me from playing obsessive amounts of minesweeper? Thank you.
I'm rather glad that tv land is heating up, although I'm not sure how my VCR will handle it. I can only hold 8 programs at a time, which may be trouble. I mean there will be Alias, MI-5, and thank you jesus 24 this week alone. On top of all the other shows I already watch. Some things will just have to be pushed aside to make priority. I'm not even going to bother to go into how much I can't wait for Day 4 of 24 to start, because I'm pretty sure you all know how I feel about.
