I get my apartment on Wednesday. We might even get the keys tomorrow so we can start painting. I can't believe that I'm going to have my own place where I don't have to share a bathroom with boys anymore. Life is good.
Wheeee! I can't believe the new season is finally here! Alias spoilers below... and yes, I just copy/pasted what I posted at Snarkgasm. *

First, because it is the best quote ever:
"Michael Vaughn is just a boy, who was never good enough for you."
BWAHAHAHAHA! I lurve me some SpyDaddy! See Vaughn, Jack didn't give up on Sydney. Jack didn't think that she was dead. Jack kept looking for answers.
And Sydney reading Vaughn the riot act was great! About freaking time! Even if she was being completely hypocritical because after all, Vaughn took about as long getting over Syd as Syd took getting over Danny. But still, at least she was angry and she told him off about it instead of making the sad eyes and crying even more then she did.
Dixon was in top form tonight. I love that he's in control, even if I do miss Kendall. The new guy is so annoying and I hate him on sight. I didn't even bother to remember his name.
Where was Sark?
I liked Weiss as the fearless leader. It looked good on him. He doesn't need to be in the shadow of the great Agent Vaughn.
Overall, I really loved this episode. I thought it was a great start to season 3. Bring on 3.02!
October is shaping up to be a crazy new music month!

I don't need money, do I?
So I move next week. This has become a very real and scary thing. I am not packed. At all. Or even close to it. I have managed to throw out a bunch of crap, but it isn't enough. I'm starting to wonder where the hell I am going to put all this stuff in my new, smaller room. Why did I want to move again? I'm sure all will be fine once I actually move, and if I have to I can leave stuff here at home. It's not like my parents are kicking me out. So I don't need to panic, right?
Oooh, Coupling 2x04 just downloaded. Off to watch!
Listening to: Travis - Love Will Come Through
"I can't live alone in this lie..."
Went and saw Interpol on Wednesday. What an amazing concert. The Stills opened, and they were wonderful. I've been into them for a few months now and can't wait for their full length album. Interpol were just fabulous. Completely blew me away. They were so very wonderful. I really just can't say enough good things.
Now on to the Friday Five because it was all about music and concerts, so clearly I had to do it.
1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why? Depeche Mode are my all time favourite band. Their music is so amazing. Haunting melodies, beautiful lyrics and just such damn good songs. They are perfect and I love everything about them.
2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? I feel that Creed, and Scott Strapp are responsible for all the evil in the world. Could they suck any more? Could their music be any more whiny? Could they think that they were any hotter? They all need a very good kick in the teeth, except for Scott. I want him dragged into the streets and shot.
3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan seems like a nice enough guy in interviews. I don't think that we would have a lot in common. But really I don't know enough about him as a person to be sure about this.
4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show? Have I ever been to any concerts? *laughs at silly Friday Five people* I can't leave it at just one. Instead, my top five concert experiences:
5. Travis with Doves, The Invisible Band Tour, Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff, Wales. March 2002. When I found out that Travis was going to be touring the UK at the same time that I was going to be touring the UK I knew what I had to do. I begged and pleaded with my friend to go with me, and she agreed. I took a train from London to Cardiff, arriving to meet my friends with all of my belongings with me. Travis at this point had been playing small venues in Toronto. So to see them in a huge arena was amazing. Doves opened, and it was my first chance to hear their new music from their upcoming album the Last Broadcast. Amazing. Then Travis blew everyone away. It was so much fun to be in Wales, singing along with all the Travis songs, freaking out with all the rest of the fans. A random fun little fact: At a show earlier in the year in Toronto I'd given Andy a very cheesy Canadian patch for his jeans. It was cool to see him wearing it, on his left leg below his knee. I'll have to see if I can find a picture anywhere. And it was a great story to tell the cute British boys sitting in front of me.
4. Elbow with South, Asleep in the Back Tour. Lee's Palace, Toronto. March 2002. The day before I left for England. Not a chance in hell that I was going to miss Elbow's first headlining show in Toronto. South came out and rocked the place. Are they ever going to stop teasing me with talking about it and actually release their second album? Anyway, back to Elbow. They came out and were playing their hearts out. Lee's Palace is a really small venue, and I made sure that we went early so we were standing about 2 people back from the stage. So in a break between songs someone yells out "Play Independent Women!" Yes, as in the Destiny's Child song. (If you haven't heard Elbow's cover, you need to go here now and see some Kittens singing it) So Guy (lead singer) starts in on a bit of a rant saying how it's upsetting to pour your heart and soul into a song and get no recognition for it, but then cover a pop song and have everyone go crazy. He sounds all sad and depressed about this, so I yell out "We still love you!" But I forgot that he's only standing about 5 feet away from me. So he looks right at me and says "Thanks, I love you too." THUD! Then he asks "What's your name?" I tell him and he says "I love you Steph." DOUBLE THUD!! It was quite possibly the biggest of all my squeeeeing fan girl moments. Because Guy isn't all that much to look at, until he opens his mouth and that voice comes out. Then he becomes one of the sexiest people of all time. Leading to Fan Girl moment #2. They start up on Bitten By the Tailfly, one of the sexiest songs ever and Guy locks eyes with me and sings the whole song while looking directly at me. TRIPLE THUD!!! "I'm full of wit and chivalry until you've given into me..." Oh yeah.
3. The Strokes with Pete Yorn - Is This It Tour, The Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto. October 2001. I'd first gotten into the Strokes when they opened for Doves in March. So when I heard they were playing a headlining date in Toronto I was psyched. Then I found out that it was going to be a free show in one of Toronto's tiniest venues. Since the Strokes had just started to become the "it" band of 2001, I knew it was going to be crowded. So we showed up at 4. The line outside the pub started at 5. By 8 it was down the street, and wrapped around the corner. We heard the Strokes do a sound check around 7. Everyone was cheering and singing along. It was such a happy atmosphere. Finally around 9 they let us into the back room for the show. Pete Yorn came out and was wonderful. The Moldy Peaches came out and completely sucked with the exception of "Who's Got the Crack?" Then it was the Strokes turn. 50 minutes of insane rock and roll the way it was supposed to be heard. Completely amazing, and never to be forgotten.
2. Doves with Elbow - Last Broadcast Tour, Palais Royale, Toronto. Two of my favourite bands playing together, at a gorgeous waterfront venue. Elbow came on and blew me away, as always with songs like Powder Blue, Coming Second, Red, Bitten by the Tailfly and Scattered Black and Whites. So beautiful. Next, on came Doves launching right into There Goes the Fear, and the Pounding. They played some classics, and ended up with Space Face, a great song from their Sub Sub days. Wonderful.
1. Depeche Mode with Poe - Exciter Tour, Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto. Best concert ever. I was in the 3rd row, and it was amazing to watch Dave, Mart and Andy up on stage working their magic, and then look behind you to see 18 000 people waving their hands in the air to Never Let Me Down Again. Or throwing their hands in the air while screaming "Reach Out Touch Faith!" during Personal Jesus. Completely amazing.
Wow, that was a bit crazy wasn't it? Can you believe there's still one more question?
5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from downloading free music *kicks the RIAA* They are idiots. However, I do have a few small problems with some downloaders. I am the person that the RIAA claims doesn't exist. I download music, and if I like it I go out and buy it. I feel that if you like an album enough that you want to download the whole album, and then burn it on a disc then you owe the artist to go and buy a copy of the CD. If it's just the odd song and you know that you'd never get the album then download away.
My goodness that was long...
Listening to: Elbow - Independent Women "Girl I didn't know you could get down like that..."
They've finally rescheduled my Radiohead concert. It's in the middle of October now, at a different venue. So lucky for me that means my lawn seats are now actual seats. I'm just glad that they did reschedule. I was starting to think that they wouldn't.
Listening to: Broken Social Scene - Shampoo Suicide
I have had the lustiest day ever. First, I have to express my undying love and devotion to One for telling me to buy Desert Saints. That was the best $10 I have ever spent. Ever. Because the movie has scenes like this:
Oh yeah, that's the Kief with handcuffs in a motel room. Any movie that has the Kief getting it on after 6 minutes is my kind of film. Could life get any better?
Apparently it can, because now we have half nekkid sweaty Kief. There are a ton more pictures at Kiefer Rocks, and I could have posted every single one of them. So go and look, and then go and see the movie.
In the meantime, Kiefer Rocks (the best website in history) has the 24 Day 3 promo available to download. Is it October 28th yet? I swear this will be the longest six weeks ever. This season looks like it will be the best yet, and I can not wait for it.
I was going to write about why I like these albums, but all I could think of for each one was "because it's so damn good!" That is my current top 5 list, it does change from time to time, but it's been like that for about a year now. Oooh, I bought Travis tickets yesterday, and I picked up the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album, Take Them On, On Your Own. It's very good. Not as good as BRMC was, but still very nice.
So those are all my media recs of the day. As always, if you want any music recs let me know, I'd be happy to try and help.
Listening to: Doves - Friday's Dust
"It seems they've got desires on me, they never want me honestly..."
and the Kief on the Day Three Promo
"Don't you ever come into my office and talk to me like that again, do you understand me?"
Guess who's back? Back again! Steph is back, tell a friend!
Wheeeeee! I am back from beautiful and amazing Cuba, and very sadly at work where I am being attacked with questions like "Where's your tan?" "Why aren't you tanned?" "Did you get any sun down there?" Of course what makes this rather sad is the fact that I am tanned. For me anyway. For the record, I am pale. Vampires are jealous of my complexion. So I come back with a sunburned nose, and bunch of freckles all over my face thinking how supa-tanned I look, but apparently that still translates to pale to my co-workers. Grrrrr.
So we got to Cuba on Saturday night, where we sat outside looking at the stars drinking strawberry daquiri's and generally having an awesome time.
Sunday - hit the beach, where I instantly get the nickname "Casper." I really wasn't kidding about being pale. The water is gorgeous - turquoise, clear and so warm. It was great. Of course, I forget that maybe I should be re-applying my sunscreen a lot. Especially if I'm going to spend an hour in the water. So by Monday, I had a new nickname - "Lobster Girl" Yep, I burned. Everywhere. My chest, back, legs, and face. I was looking really attractive.
So there was a lot of sitting on the beach during the day, and hanging out playing Drinking Uno in the evening followed by dancing at the lame ass disco at the hotel. After a rousing set of Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen followed by some lame ass Richard Marx ballad we went and got our CDs to play. That made things a bit better.
We met a ton of people. It's funny how everyone is so friendly when you're on vacation. I met 2 super cute British Boys! The first one was the funniest person I have ever met. Sadly we met him the day before he left so we didn't get to spend too much time with him. But I did snag his email address so all is good. The second super cute Brit Boy was a 4 year old named Joe, who was in the pool every day with his Bob the Builder hat and water wings. He was so adorable. And yes, the first boy was 26 and not a toddler. There were also some very nice Canadian boys, and some really annoying Canadian boys. And some Skanky Canadian girls. Dude, I'm embarrassed to be from the same country as them. Yuck. These girls were not getting the hint. I mean, when the super flirty Cuban guys don't want to talk to you, you know the skank factor is pretty damn high. Oh, and Cuban guys? Hello! I have never seen anyone move their hips the way these guys can. Yum!
The trip was wonderful, and I'd recommend it to anyone. We had such a good time, and it was so cheap.
So now on to all the usual fan girl stuff... I'll keep it short.
My Alias DVD's came! Yay!!!! Sadly, they didn't come with my Desert Saints DVD that was supposed to be delivered at the same time. Booo! I guess it's coming later. So far I've watched Truth be Told and Almost Thirty Years with the Audio Commentary on, and Rendezvous just for the Sark Lust. I also watched all the special features. I wish they'd added more deleted scenes. For that many episodes, I'm sure there were a few more they could have tossed in there.
Just before I left I came across Buffy Season 3 in the used store for $50. Which is a damn good bargain price, and a good season so I grabbed that too. But I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
The OC is the best. I am so in love with Seth it is insane. I just want to grab him and huggle him. He's sooooo funny!
MI-5 left me feeling cheated. Dude, I cried over Ellie and Maisy last week. Cried. Sobbed. Balled by freaking eyes out. It was still really good, but I felt let down. And I see that Dr. Bashir is on this week. Not that I ever watched Star Trek, or DS9, or know who Bashir is. Really. Shut up.
Does anyone watch Nip/Tuck? I don't know how long it's been on FX, but it just started up here last night. I really liked it.
