I'm at work, and I'm bored bored bored.  This whole work thing is really starting to suck my will to live.  I've been on  day shifts for a few weeks, and will continue to be on day shifts for a few more weeks.  It's nice, because I have my evenings to go out, or to sit at home watching tv, but it sucks for getting things done.  I really do need to be indepentently wealthy.  Hell, I'd even settle for dependently wealthy.  I was looking into flights to Vegas last night, and all the cheap ones are completely sold out.  The bastards.  Why were these people all planning ahead?  They should save some seats for those of us that want to leave at the very last minute.

I've been bitten by the bug to make a new mix cd lately.  I keep thinking of songs that would sound good with other songs.  I need to spend some quality time with my computer and my cd collection first.  I don't have many mp3's on my computer yet, so I need to rip a bunch of my albums in.  If I do end up making one, I'll post the tracklisting incase anyone wants a copy.

They are painting one of the rooms here at work and the whole place smells like paint fumes.  Ick.

At lunch I have to go back to the apartment and get my car insurance policy.  It's up for renewal in September, and the bastards want $1500 to insure my sunfire.  My dad has just changed a bunch of policys over to one where he gets a discount with work, so he said he'd look into it for me.  I guess it saved my brother about $600 so I'm hoping it can save me some money too.

The Amazing Race is tonight, wheeeeeeee!

On Mnemo's tagboard we got to talking about The Joaquin.  And how he is the sex in many of his movies, but most especially in Quills.  So here is the proof:

It is wrong for a man in a priests outfit to look that sexy.  I mean he's a priest, he's not supposed to look like sin personified, but yet I am so happy that he does.  Oh man, now I want to go rewatch a bunch of scenes in Quills.  Like that one where he rips off his shirt so they can whip him.  Or that scene up there with him and the Winslut.

And just because there hasn't been nearly enough Kiefer Lust on this page of late:

Pooh, I hope you have a wonderful vacation.  Even if you are completely incapable of packing a suitcase I still love you.  You just remember my favourite song while you are down there.

First, I want to wish Pooh a very happy birthday.  Again.  Even though it was yesterday, just because I can.  *MWAH*  I hope it was a good one.

Second, I want to say "YAAAAAAAY!" because One is back.  I missed you, and I'm sorry the world was plotting against you while you were gone.

Can someone make me stop listening to Interpol?  Or Tiger Lou's Nova Lee?  Yeah, I didn't think so either.

I went to make breakfast this morning and discovered that I have no food left in the apartment.  None.  Everything I thought I had was bad.  So I did clean a lot of the fridge out, and then called my parents and invited myself out to lunch with them.  So that worked out well.

I think I have to go watch more Dead Like Me episodes now.  I am freaking obsessed with that show.  Why didn't more people pimp it out to me?  Bad friends, bad!

     OH MY GOD!!!!

Do you know what I am listening to right now?  The new Interpol album.  They just finished mixing it, and some kind soul has leaked it onto the internet so that all us obsessed fans don't have to wait until the end of September, and will now know all the words to all the new songs when we go see them at the Curiosa festival next month.  Oh god, it is sooooo good.  So good.  I am in love.  If you want this lovely new album (called Antics) you can find a download thread at good old http://www.suprnova.org.  I'm going to double post this on LJ so that everyone can share the love.

In other news, blogger has changed it's interface, but I don't hate it half as much as Pooh does.  In fact, I kinda like it.  Since I'm html impared, it's made everything all easy for me.  Yay for that.

I need to make this insomnia stop. It is evil, evil, evil I tell you. I just can't seem to get to sleep. I think I'm stressed about something, but I can't put my finger on it. I seem to lay in bed at night and my mind is just going a million miles a minute. I'm just too wired to get to sleep. I had no sleep Tuesday night, so I figured that I'd be good and tired and I'd get right to sleep last night. Which was a good thing since I had to work at 7am this morning. Except there I was, wide awake at 1:30 last night. This is sucking ass. I need more than 5 hours sleep, dammit.

Off to get breakfast. And maybe play some Astropop.

Happy random run of the mill day to the lovely and wonderful One. I hope it's a good one babe. *hugs* Oh! I also updated my version of AIM, so next time we are both online I'll try to send you that Martin Gore cover one more time.

I'm clearly insane. It's 2:20 in the morning, and I'm still up. And on the computer. This is all kinds of wrong. I should be curled up in my lovely, lovely bed fast asleep. But since I'm not, I will share with you all the fun that was the past few days.

I had a great time with Kristin! We really had far too much fun. On Monday night we went out and ate too much, and drank way too many martinis each. In other words, it was total heaven. Then we went to Niagara Falls on Tuesday, which I would remember more fondly if it weren't for the god awful sunburn I have on my arms. More on my left arm than my right, which I got from driving with my arm hanging out the window. Like Kris said on her blog, what kind or moron can't work a bottle of sun screen? And not only that... I remembered to put some one my neck and the bit of skin that was showing through the v-neck of my shirt. I just forgot about my arms. *facepalm* Seriously, I have the worst tan lines ever. It really, really sucks.

But enough bitching, let's just move right on to The Concert. Yes, it deserves capitals. It was freaking AMAZING. My dear god, it was just so damn good. Possibly one of the best concerts ever. I'm not even exaggerating. Hawksley came out and was just amazing from beginning to end. I've said it before, and I will say it again. That man has the voice of an angel. It's like he roughs it up for the album, but in person it is so beautiful it's almost like he should be singing for the pope or something. He did this slowed down version of No Beginning No End that had me tearing up it was so freaking beautiful. But he also rocked out all the up tempo songs and made them so super sexy. Speaking of sexy? Hawksley is. The man is sex on legs. Whoever it was who pointed him towards the tight low cut jeans and the black wifebeaters that show off some really nice forearms, I would like to personally thank you. Hawksley could give lessons to every man in the world about how to use confidence to make every girl, and quite a few guys weak in the knees. DAMN! If Hawksley ever tours anywhere near you, YOU MUST GO! He is not to be missed.

So yeah, he played this awesome set, while looking like sex, and then he thanked us all nicely, and left the stage. We all yelled and clapped, and they came back out for an encore. They started up with We Will Still Need a Song, and Kris and I left our seats and ran up to the front to be with all the other squealing girls, who looked to be about 17. He played a few more songs, including a BLISTERING version of Smoke Baby where he even managed to throw in a few lines from Chris Isaak's Wicked Game. I mentioned that Hawksley = sex, right? It was right at the end, the part where he sings "who'll give you time to cry..." and he just slipped in "I don't want to fall in love..." a few times, and it fit so well that it took me way to long to figure out what song it was from. I really hope there was someone there recording the show, because I need to hear that again.

So the band left again. And we all screamed our collective lungs out, so they came back for a second encore. A nice little sing along version of Autumn's Here, and then they started playing songs suggested by the audience. Guh. And they left again. And we yelled again. AND THEY CAME BACK. I'm still stunned. Hawksley said that he was getting changes (*THUD*) but they decided to come back out. (thank god he was still in the wifebeater) He mentioned that they were sick of playing their own stuff, and then launched into a great cover Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, and followed it up with The Band's The Weight. They played for just over two hours, and every second of it was amazing.

    I'm done gushing now.

Guess what I'm doing right now? I'm listening to In The Shadows by The Rasmus on my brand new speakers! WHEEEE! And this momentous occasion is being recorded by Audioscrobbler! I've missed that site way too much. BTW, what is everyone using to download songs lately? I just typed in "rasmus shadows free download" but I had to go through a bunch of crap versions before I found a good one. I've used bit torrent for whole albums, but they don't seem to have individual songs. Any suggestions would be lovely. Also, if you haven't heard that song it is a highly enjoyable piece of pop fluff, with an insanely catchy chorus. Just ask Kris. :)

Off to bed! Hopefully to dream of Hawksley...

I have the worst cold. It is evil. I don't even know anyone else who is sick, so it's not like I caught it from someone. It just appeared out of thin air. It is no freaking fun. I'm really hoping that it'll be gone by Monday because that's when Kris is coming to visit me! I'm so excited!

In other annoying news of the day, it's really hot here. Which is kinda nice, except I went to pour myself a nice cold drink and discovered that my Roommate took our bag of ice somewhere. So we have no nice. And I have a lukewarm glass of lemonade. Not a happy camper here. Especially since I bought that bag of ice. Granted it was months ago, but it takes a long time to go through a bag of ice. And she took the whole thing! I mean, it was still at least 3/4 full. Where was she going that she needed that much ice? She couldn't leave any?

And yes, it is the combination of heat and sickness that caused an entire paragraph about ice. I'm sorry about that.

I went and got my hair cut today. At first I was really upset that it was too short. But now that I've had a chance to run my hands through it and mess it up a bit I love it. I think it looks really cute, so yay hairdresser!

Since Kris was so good as to resend me the email about how to upload pictures, I will now share with all of you my very favourite picture from the Pride Parade:

Isn't that awesome? It must have been heavy, but damn it's cool.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! The joy of Canada day is that I get to work today. And while working on a holiday has a tendency to suck, all is forgotten when you take into account the holiday pay. Double time and a half baby. It is wonderful.

Does anyone know how to make MSN messenger not sign on every time you turn your computer on. Because it keeps doing that, forcing me to have conversations with people I'd rather not talk to. Like the old friend from high school who is currently telling me all her wedding plans, while asking why I don't have a boyfriend. I'm about to uninstall the damn thing. I unchecked the little box that says "run this program when windows starts" but it still does it anyway. Stupid program.

Ugh. Roomie is listening to Alanis Morrissette, or however you spell her last name. That is upsetting. And I can't drown it out with music on my computer because my speakers won't be in until JULY 5TH! Jesus... That is just mean and evil. So they had better be some pretty damn good speakers for that kind of a wait.

On Sunday I went to Toronto's Pride Parade. It was so much fun. Everyone was just so happy to be there, there was such a great mood and atmosphere. It was a total blast. I will show you some pictures at some point, but I seem to have lost the email from Kristin about how to load images. So for now, just know that it was hella cool.

Speaking of hella cool, the new Cure album KICKS ALL KINDS OF ASS!! Seriously, it is so damn good. I mean, it's the Cure and all, so that was to be expected, but DAMN! I mean, DAMN!! And it came with some buttons, which made me all kinds of happy because I love buttons. And I love the Cure! You know, it is funny that the Cure can make me all kinds of happy, since they are one of the most depressing bands of all time. *huggles sadbastard music* It's almost wrong how warm and fuzzy sad bastard music makes me inside.

I also bought Hawksley Workman's Last Night We Were the Delicious Wolves because I'm a bad, bad girl who didn't have it yet. AND! It was only $10, brand spanking new, so the price was right. I also hit up a used cd store and got Fiona Apple's Tidal because One likes her so much. I haven't really listened to it yet, what with the Cure obsessing that's going on, but I'll get there eventually.

Listening to: The Cure! The Cure! SQUEEEEEEEE!
